Pro-Line Racing Set Hobby RC Wheels, Tires, Rims, and Hubs

Pro-Line Racing is an American manufacturer that designs a wide assortment of performance wheels and tires for RC cars and trucks. These stock and aftermarket parts not only dictate aesthetics, but also the ride height and many other aspects of your suspension. Pro-Line offers a range of accessories including tire and wheel sets as well as individual parts.

Are RC vehicle tires and wheels sized by scale?

Yes. RC car and truck accessories are generally classified by scales, such as 1/8-scale or 1/10-scale. If you have a 1/10-scale truck, then you can generally expect a 1/10-scale wheel or tire to fit as well. However, there may be other considerations, such as the style, mounting type, and offset, and you may purposefully choose an undersized or oversized tire for a particular look or feel.

Is racing a style for tires and wheels?

Yes. Racing is a broad classification used for tires, rims, hubs, and other parts made by ProLine as well as many other manufacturers. Be mindful that there are also subcategories. Short-course, rally racing, drifting, and dirt racing are all types of racing subcategories. You may select a general-purpose racing set or a style based on your local course or the competition in which you participate.

What is a mounting type?

All RC car and truck wheels have a particular mounting type or configuration where the wheels attach to the axle. A car will have a default type but can also be changed based on user preference. The most prevalent mounting types used by Pro-Line for tires and rims are:

  • Pin style
  • Bearing style
  • 12-millimeter hex style
Do Pro-Line wheels and tires come RTR?

Generally, these parts do come RTR, or ready to race. In some cases, there is excess black material from the manufacturing process that must be shaved off with a hobby knife, but in most cases, you can simply remove them from the package and use as is. For competitive racing, the manufacturer generally recommends washing the tire and rims with warm water and dish soap. It’s also generally recommended to heat the tire up through casual use before racing them on a prepared track.

Can a wheel and tire be purchased separately?

Yes. While often sold as sets, you can purchase car and truck wheels either in pairs or groups of four. However, when doing so, it’s important to ensure the tire style matches the style of the rims.
