a top of productivity coming from an old device

a nokia tablet with WIndows RT in 2019?! on my case is a totally worth it product, after reading the bad and subjective reviews all over the internet about windows RT and the tablet I felt kind of curious to try it by myself and as a conclusion I can say that I feel bad that this product never succeed. I use the next functions and I have a totally positive feeling about it: Office programs integrated, for FREE, I use a lot One Note and Outlook, since is the same interface and function of my workstation I feel like I'm taking a part of my office and workflow with me, you can set it up with just a few clicks, and all the folders/subfolders and tags will be just ready in 2 mins (way better than try to use a Chrome book with their crappy programs) Netflix, is a nice screen still by 2019 standards, works with miracast, so you can project to your TV while connected to the WiFi. Evernote, flipboard, Amazon, OneDrive, and apps running via internet explorer, like ebay Telegram facebook. finally, where I see the full potential of this tablet is while using an app called splashtop(Teamviewer is not supported anymore, but splashtop is cheaper ans has more functions), is a remote desktop app so normally I connect to my workstation and let the computer run some really heavy programs. while managing this workflow, the screen resolution really makes a difference, having more than 12 hours battery is supper cool, and having the possibility to of being multitasking, (BTW this option was years ahead of what was possible with the ipad at that moment, shame on Microsoft and its marketing branch for not making noise on this), connect to an external monitor, one for professional with remote desktop and one for playing music and using the internet is great, such a level of productivity with an old and obsolete device is contradictory by itself. other pros comments is the NFC to connect to accessories or share documents. Cons, so far I have not found any program that I can use to make video phone calls since skype is not supported anymore, I know you can jailbreak and boatload this tablet, probably I will do it on a future, but in the meantime I'm enjoying the simplicity of Windows RT. I feel curious about Windows 10X, I'm sure Microsoft learned something from this experiment

Don't Think Windows RT is Dead!

When Windows 3.0 was released it dramatically changed computing. Of course I suggest that had Steve Jobs been allowed, temper and erratic behavior, to be at Apple without the bump called Next Computers, it would have been different. Gates and IBM split. The Gates GUI Windows 95 blew away the IBM GUI. Many apps suddenly had to be re-written and Gates allowed the apps to use a run-time version of Windows 3.0. This run-time version was specific to the app however there were ways to get most of the functionality from the run-time version of the parent Windows 3.0. I was raised on 2 operating systems one was the Commodore OS and the other MS-DOS. As Apple started to become a serious competitor to Microsoft out came the interesting Surface designed with a limited version of 8.0 called RT to run on arm-type CPUs. The Intel CPUs were not practical due to limited battery life. Arm-type CPUs basically run on a much limited instruction set, that is not noticeable. Let's just say that Intel was late to the party, like Digital was late and MS-DOS was early. I like my Surface but I like my Nokia 2520 tablet better. The best reason is that the battery life of the Nokia blows away the Surface. Microsoft saw that and actually purchased Nokia ending the innovation of Nokia. However the Nokia has a quad processor, and upgrades to 8.1. It is serious business and even gaming device. The price is remarkable. The only defect is that there is no variation of Windows Media Player available, or ever will be. External RW DVDs are inexpensive on Ebay, just go with a name brand. The Nokia 2520 like all RT machines has limited apps. However it offers an excellent version of IE so simply bookmark the app use want. The Nokia display is excellent and the sound from its tiny speakers is very usable, get a 32gig micro SD card for data storage. If you want a tablet that offers all the functionality of a heavier notebook look at the Nokia 2520. Oh, there is something else. The Nokia 4G LTE device supplements WiFi. If you have T-Mobile or other GSM carriers you may find very inexpensive deals for mobile data.

    Surface RT Tablet OS Rocks!

First: if you are looking for an all encompassing PC...this is not the item for you. If you are looking for a tablet for a gazillion apps...again, not for you. But if you need something you can do a few documents on...or mildly entertain you that is inexpensive with zero opportunity to grab a virus (RT doesn't allow downloading)...PERFECT device. I have this and the Surface RT. I use my Surface RT for my MS Office functions. Nokia Lumia 2520 has a BRILLIANT HD screen with vibrant colors...so I use it as my entertainment tablet. Games, Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, and shopping...it is AWESOME! Using it plus the Surface Digital AV Adapter (wired/wireless- I have both) the imagery pops on an HD TV. I luckily obtained this rather inexpensive since Surface RT is no longer produced...so it was economical and perfect for what I needed. PLUS- I can use it for small computing. What shoppers are paying for in Roku/Apple TV items or even a firestick/Chromestick...purchasing a used one of these allows the same operations PLUS a mini usable PC. Again..does not have the overload of apps as iPad...but it does allow dual app usage which iPad (until recently) can't say. All in all...it is worth the current expense and safe enough to allow children to play with, too. And they will love the vibrant colors. Good product!!!

Why on Planet Earth Would Anyone Ever Get an iPad Air 3?

I just cannot say how amazing this rather old device is! Nokia was an amazing innovator, and although I'm having trouble forgiving Microsoft for KILLING Nokia, they make an amazing operating system that blows iOS, Mac and Linux out of the water. You simply cannot compare them in features. There's a lot of complaints that the absurdly titled "Windows RT" can't run old Windows program. (first of all, whoever named it Windows RT in the marketing department, I sure hope they are currently unemployed, because they do not deserve a job, that is the reason "RT" failed). BUT, can your Android, or iOS mobile devices run the full Photoshop or Adobe Premiere video editing software? Of course, not! That's not why we bought this device! But what terrific icing on the cake that we can have a completely mobile device on unlocked cellular data, just like your phone, that looks and feels like a real productivity computer... complete with Office 2013 pre-installed (I still remember the day when I had to pay almost $500 for a single license of the latest Office). This device is the dream device, come true! It's a bit heavy, but then again, all computers are lighter than they were two years ago. This is an unbelievable deal at today's prices!

the best tablet I ever seen

nokia lumia 2520 is the best tablet I ever seen still in 2015. It's fast and responsive(response is a little slow in internet explorer as I think the internet explorer is made for tablet use). The screen is gourgeous. you can even play 1080p video on youtube. windows RT is just good enough for me who just serf the web, watch videos and check email on tablet. do not worry about lack of apps because, in my opinion, windows has better basic apps than Iphones and Android. I encountered new email app like touch mail and youtube app like hyper for youtube, which i think is a lot better than youtube apps from Iphone and Android. But, I wish there is more apps for web browser as I prefer to serf on mobile pages than full pc version pages. Battery life is long enough, a little longer than 1 hour for 10percent of battery is more than enough for me and charging is really fast with the powerful charger. I just love this tablet...!!!

    Excellent hardware, outdated software

The best hardware combined with the garbage that it windows metro UI. Its old, and not supported by anyone including Microsoft themselves. MS has made every effort to make the store unusable without a hotmail ID, and when you try to make a new one there are too many questions and conditions about passwords and phone number etc. I had to make a new account on Skype on my phone(skype doesnt work on Windows RT) So its just a basic tablet with few basic features and extremely limited apps for those who have a hotmail account. So why did I buy this? the price is good for a 10 inch tablet for basic reading and web browsing. you can get a cheap Android tablet from Lenovo or Asus, but nothing comes close to Nokia quality. This tablet puts an 800 USD ipad to shame in terms of quality

mediocre tablet for quality / price

The Nokia lumina is at good tablet not the best one but they had at great resolution screen and is easy for use , the windows rt 8 had some limit like windows store there not at good selection of app , the good thing is the big screen 10.1 " the right size for people they travel for watch at movies or work , plus is very light tablet , the only issue i find is the battery life they go for 3 h while the other tablet with at full charge the battery life is up 10 /11 h . In the end for the price is a good tablet specially if you don't have to much money to spend .

    Nokia Lumia 2520

I've had the tablet just under two weeks now and was able to navigate through most of the programs pretty quickly. The 10.1 screen is bright & clear being easy but a bit too easy to show and hold fingerprints. The keyboard when using stand alone is light & easy to handle. When clipped into the accessory keyboard is become a bit cumbersome. The keyboard is a bit finicky with where you place your palm as it will change pages, attempt to delete etc. All in all after only owning it for a short period of time like it much better than the Samsung Galaxy Tab that the Nokia replaced.
