Instrument Clusters for Chevrolet S10

Wherever you are headed in your Chevrolet S10, it is critical that you know what is happening with your vehicles systems. Whether it is a quick check of your speed, a low fuel warning, or a reminder that you need to change your oil, you depend on your S10s instrument cluster to keep you informed. That is why it is so important to keep it working well at all times.

What types of instrument clusters are available for an S10?

Whether you want to give your S10 a custom look, or you just want to have a reliable replacement for the instrument cluster you currently have, you can choose from plenty of options. A wide array of both Original Equipment Manufacturer, or OEM, and aftermarket models are available to ensure you give your dash the exact look you want.

One easy yet dramatic way to customize your gauges is through the use of custom-colored LED bulbs to illuminate your instrument cluster, allowing you to color your dash in just about any color you like, or even mix and match colors to give an entirely one-of-a-kind look. When you select a new instrument cluster, simply ensure that you select one that matches the model year of your S10. Its instrument cluster evolved quite a bit, and different iterations are not compatible with anything but the model years for which they were originally designed.

How do you replace a Chevrolet S10s instrument cluster?

Replacing your S10s gauges is a fairly easy and straightforward process. When you select a new one, consider the mileage on your odometer, as that is a component of the instrument cluster. Depending on which one you select, you may have the odometer pre-programmed with your S10s current mileage so that it matches when you receive it. If you are not able to transfer over the mileage, note the discrepancies and obtain the appropriate affidavits, depending on your local Department of Motor Vehicle laws. This ensures that should you ever sell your S10, there will be no issues regarding the miles shown on the odometer.

  • Adjust your tilt steering wheel as low as possible, and shift your gear shift to the lowest possible gear to give you plenty of room to access and remove your cluster.
  • Remove the interior trim surrounding the cluster by prying it out of its clips using a flat screwdriver or trim removal tool.
  • Remove the assembly by removing the screws holding it in place, then slide it out and disconnect the electrical harnesses on the back of the cluster.
  • Line up the new cluster to ensure proper fit, then reconnect the wiring harnesses on the back of the cluster.
  • Reinstall the screws holding the cluster in place, then reinstall the interior trim around the cluster by snapping it back into its clips. Check the cluster for proper operation, including all warning lights.
