Inyectores de combustible para Chevrolet S10

Chevrolet S10 Fuel Injectors

The fuel injectors in your Chevrolet S10 feed fuel into the engine in precise amounts and timing. A faulty fuel injector will cause serious problems and require replacement. You can learn more about Chevrolet S10 fuel injectors and find the right ones that fit your Chevrolet here.

What kinds of fuel injectors are used in Chevrolet S10 models?

There are four types of fuel injectors that are used in car and pickup truck engines. Choose the type that your S10’s engine was designed to use.

  • Throttle body injection or TBI: This was the first type of fuel injector that was used to replace carburetors. TBI systems used one or two injectors that were controlled by a computer to provide improved fuel efficiency compared to what was obtained with carburetor technology.
  • Multi-port fuel injection or MPFI: This was the next step in fuel injection technology. MPFI systems inject fuel into each intake port instead of into a single space that leads to the intake manifold.
  • Sequential fuel injection: This is similar to MPFI, but the injection process is controlled more efficiently. Instead of injecting fuel into each port simultaneously, this system injects fuel into each port when the cylinder is prepared for fuel.
  • Direct fuel injection: This is the most advanced, injecting fuel directly into each combustion chamber as it is needed rather than into the ports. This reduces waste further. These systems are already common in diesel motors but are becoming more common in gasoline engines.
What are the signs of a faulty fuel injector?
  • Rough engine idling: A rough idle can be the result of one or more injectors causing misfires.
  • Poor fuel economy: If the timing of a fuel injection is off, a portion of the fuel will be wasted, and the vehicle’s fuel efficiency will suffer.
  • Surging: Another symptom of poor fuel injection timing is surging, which occurs when the engine accelerates more than expected as the accelerator pedal is pressed.
What maintenance should be performed to maintain fuel injectors?

The basic maintenance for fuel injectors consists of adding cleaning agents to the pickups fuel tank. These cleaners remove any buildup of carbon or other residues in the injectors that can clog them. Repair shops also have more intensive cleaning procedures.

When should fuel injectors be checked for problems?

It’s usually recommended that fuel injectors be physically tested and inspected every 25,000 to 30,000 miles or once a year to ensure the best performance.
