Cell Display: LCD Screens Parts for Samsung Galaxy A5

Buying a New Samsung A5 LCD Screen: How to Find the Right Part for Your Phone

You might know that a Samsung A5 display, like many smart devices, has three layers: there's the top glass layer, then a touchscreen or digitizer beneath. Finally, there's the LCD, which displays an actual image on the screen. Most new LCDs you'll find also include the digitizer and top glass.

Make sure you know what's included before buying an LCD screen on eBay

As mentioned above, what many think of as an affordable Samsung Galaxy A5 display is three different parts. When buying a new LCD, it's very important to understand what you're purchasing as, most of the time, you can choose between the different parts. Here are some of the common replacements offered:

  • Glass only: This shouldn't show up in a search for new or preowned Samsung A5 LCD screens. However, some people market the top glass as a replacement "screen."
  • Glass and touchscreen/digitizer: It's important to make sure the assembly you get includes the LCD. If you only get the top glass and touchscreen, you won't receive the LCD at all.
  • Glass, touchscreen/digitizer, and LCD: This assembly includes all three components and will ensure your LCD is replaced.
Should you purchase a frame or no frame?

Once you've verified that the Samsung Galaxy A5 display you want is the right one for your phone, there is one other important objective to cover. Some of these assemblies come in a frame or chassis, while others don't. It might sound like keeping the assembly in a frame will keep your replacement simple, but the opposite is true. If you opt for the frame, you will also need to move the internal components of your phone and add a new battery. If you are very familiar with working on phones (or if you intend on paying a professional to do the repair), this may be a good option. If you want to do the repair yourself and don't have the experience, choosing an assembly that is not in a frame might be a good idea for you.

Does branding matter?

As most searches for a Galaxy A5 LCD are likely to show you, many of these assemblies are unbranded. However, if you'd prefer one by a recognized brand, you may be able to find one. It is important to note, though, that "unbranded" in this case doesn't mean "poor quality." Many high-quality replacement parts for phones come from unbranded manufacturers.
